Angelina Jolie, well recognized for her role in enormous franchises such as Lara Croft, often chooses films for personal reasons. These circumstances set the Academy Award-winning actress apart from the rest of the A-listers, from travel to executing her own stunts. While some films are just created to capitalize on star power, Angie opted to take on Jonny Depp’s picture since filmmakers cannot refuse her terms if they want to capitalize on Jolie.
Angelina Jolie Was Enticed By A Quick Shoot In Italy
Angelina Jolie said in an interview with Vogue Magazine that she opted to participate in Johnny Depp’s The Tourist (2010) because she knew “it would be a quick shoot” in Venice, Italy. While Hollywood filmmakers are aware that Angie enjoys traveling, which is one of the reasons she chooses most projects, the actress believed the picture would serve as an excuse for a relaxing trip.
The actress from Original Sin admitted:
“I needed something quick to do before Brad started filming [Moneyball].” And I said that I wanted something quick and in a beautiful location for my family. Someone mentioned a screenplay that has been floating around, and it takes place in Venice and Paris. ‘Is that a character I haven’t played before?’ I asked. ‘Yes, it’s a woman,’ they replied.
The Tourist grossed a stunning $278 million at the global box office, but was hailed with critical acclaim. Jolie nevertheless described the encounter as “blissful,” which was her motivation for making the film.
The plot of the film did not shine, but Johnny Depp’s teeth did!
Angelina Jolie portrays Elise Clifton-Ward in the film directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, a part that was originally intended for Mad Max: Fury Road actor Charlize Theron. Johnny Depp, on the other side, portrays Frank Tupelo, a spy-fiction lover who is drawn into Elise’s web of “international crime and intrigue.”
Despite the film’s “slow, muddled plot,” Angelina Jolie acknowledged to Depp as a terrific performer who had already established himself as a mega-star with the Pirates of the Caribbean flicks. Nonetheless, despite their glamorous time on set, Jolie had him clean his lips every time there was a kissing scene.
Angie urged epp, a chain smoker (which Jolie opposes), to wash his lips many times and handed him mints. Despite Depp’s attempts, their connection was unable to shine on film.
