AceShowbiz.com – Miley Cyrus and Marvel fans may be wondering whether she will appear in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”. The singer/actress appeared in the second film as a cameo, but fans will be disappointed to learn that she will not be returning for the third feature
If you remember, the former “Hannah Montana” actress made a short cameo as Ravager squad member Mainframe in the “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” post-credit sequence. She appears at a Ravager funeral to honor Yondu (Michael Rooker), with Sylvester Stallone’s Stakar Ogord.
While Stallone will return for the third installment, Cyrus’ MCU character has been replaced. According to Collider, Tara Strong, a well-known voice actress who previously portrays Miss Minutes on “Loki,” is now playing the role.
It’s unknown why the former “The Voice” coach did not return for “GOTG 3,” but Strong has confirmed her presence in the film through Twitter.
Director James Gunn revealed why he selected Cyrus as the robot back in 2017. “I was liking Miley Cyrus’ vocal tone. “She’s funny, likable, and sweet to me,” he told BuzzFeed News. “So I was thinking, I think she’d be a fun voice to have.” So we approached her, and she agreed. She came in, recorded, and was a joy to work with.”
In 2021, the two discussed her part in the film. When a Miley Cyrus fan account posted a clip from the sequence with the comment “Who remembers Miley voicing ‘Mainframe’ in ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’?” Gunn responded with “Me” and tagged Cyrus. “I miss you guys so much,” she said, echoing her movie line.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” is the third and final chapter in the “GOTG” trilogy. Returning cast members include Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, and Sean Gunn, with Will Poulter as Adam Warlock. It will be released in cinemas in the United States on May 5.
